# of songs per albums played statistic
I'd like to be able see for every single show how many songs are played by album of the band.
It would probably be hard to do since we'd have to tag every song with the album it belongs to.
But I thought it could be a good idea.
Hope you got what I meant to say. :P
It has finally gone online just a few minutes ago. Please bear with the data quality in the first days. It’s gonna improve over the next weeks. Rock on.

Yeah, this is very good. The "i'm too lazy to look up" argument doesn't stand since statistics are about counting, and it would be interesting to know what is the most live played album of an artist in its carreer. And it's the feature most people are requesting...

Actually the aim of this wabsite is to make information available easily to people...
It could be "I'm too lazy to search for setlists, please do it for me".
Also even if this new level of data is a huge piece of work, I bet it would give a lot more perspectives of developpement than just this suggestion.
And with the wiki system, I bet users will make it fast ! -

Meh, not too bothered really. Plus, it would require a whole new level of data. This would be a huge piece of work, to very little benefit. All we're really saying here is "I'm too lazy to look the songs/albums up, so please do the work for me".

I still believe this is the best idea.
Here's a website using this : http://citizeninsane.eu/inrainbowslive.html
It looks pretty cool and with everybody's help in the wiki tradition I bet we could make it happen. -

It would be great if this could somehow be organised. For example I saw Teenage Fanclub at the weekend, and it was handy that on a forum somewhere someone had listed how many songs from each of their albums they've played at a recent show. In this way you know whether you're getting their old stuff, or their new stuff, or a "greatest hits".

Hey everyone, I REALLY think we are under-estimating the power of this idea.... I think this could add incredible depth to this site (which already ROCKS!)
For example....whenever I go to see a show, I always wonder how much of the show will concentrate on the old classics, or how much will be their "new stuff". Now imagine that your favorite band is touring and you can view stats on what album is CURRENTLY getting the most play on tour. You could actually make your decision of whether or not to buy tickets based what album(s) is/are being played most, on THAT tour.
OR imagine a feedback system to suggest/plead with the artist to play a certain album or songs. THIS site could become a venue/method for the masses to communicate with touring artists. (maybe a rating system, a thumbs up for example, if you like that a song was played at the show, or something)
Here are some ideas on how this could be done (not that I would really know, but see what you think):
When you type in a song title, it could fetch the album title from Last.fm or MusicBrainz. If this could fill the album in automatically, than it would double as a song title spellcheck/correctness-check, when an error is displayed should the song not match the available data)
If not, maybe it could fetch all the album titles of the artist to show up in a drop down box next to the song name. It would be optional to pick the album, but then anyone could do it if they feel the desire!
Imagine the possibilities of this site ! THANKS for reading all of this, and thanks for making Setlist.fm !

Currently we don't maintain any album data. Furthermore, it's often not easy to tell the album of a song (there are best ofs, different versions in different countries, re-releases of albums, ...). I like your idea, but I think it's not good enough to justify the effort we'd have to put into this though. But it might be worth thinking about what we could do with the data we already have. Instead of the album, we could for instance take the first appearance of a song to tell whether it's an old or a new song. Would that be interesting too?
