What is the strategy for dealing with festivals?
There should be a way to group all concerts from a specific festival together.
implemented and online, check out http://blog.setlist.fm/2009/06/new-stuff-all-over-site.html for details

@sfussenegger The search option works well, but for navigation purposes I think a "Festival" field would be a great alternative, and in my opinion it wouldn't entail too much clutter in the info box for each setlist.

I like your idea

@Jan While I like the idea of having festivals, I am skeptical towards adding more properties to a setlist. Wouldn't it be sufficient to list setlists for the same day and venue as described below? Do you think it's necessary to have a "Festival" field and a "Tour" field? Or should the festival rather replace the "Venue"?

@luis I like your idea. However, I think it would be better to link such setlists implicitly (by setting same date and venue) rather than explicitly (e.g. by manual grouping). It would be less work for editors and produce more results.
What do you think?

I was thinking more in the terms of adding a "Festival" link next to the "Venue" and "Tour" links appearing on each gig page. This would of course not be visible if a festival name was not added when registering the set list.

I think would be cool if there were a way to link a band presentation in a festival with the other ones. For example a festival with Nine Inch Nails, Metallica and U2. The NIN setlist could have at the end links for metallica and u2 in the same festival.
Could be a good idea with supporting artists too... like this band was suported by or suported this other one and then a link

(please copy+paste the link into the address bar, as uservoice cut off the date part [2008-07-31+TO+2008-08-02])

if it's just for the search: currently it's possible to do so by using the advanced search limiting the venue to wacken and the date to the date of the festival. for last year's wacken e.g.
http://www.setlist.fm/search?query=venue:%22wacken+open+air%22+date:[2008-07-31+TO+2008-08-02]or how did you imagine it? more tightly coupled?

also with supporting artists

I think this should be no problem. Just for example search for Wacken and you will have all the submitted Setlists from the festival
