treat song snippets as separate songs?
sometimes artists start with a song (often covers) and then make a transition into an other song. For example Radiohead start with R.E.M.'s 'The One I Love' and then go into "Everything In It's Right Place". Another example is John Frusciante who starts Cat Stevens's "Hard Headed Woman" before going into "Scar Tissue". A similar (however slightly different) case is if artists just sing a few lines of a song without any transition at all (e.g. Michael Stipe of R.E.M. often sings the first lines of C.C.R.'s 'who'll stop the rain' if it's raining). So the question is: how should it be put into the setlist? Currently all different styles are used, e.g.
as medley:
The One I Love / Everthing's in Right Place
as Info:
Everything In It's Right Place @Info[With R.E.M.'s 'The One I Love' intro]
or as separate song:
The One I Love @Info[Snippet] @Cover[R.E.M.]
Everthing's in Right Place
so a common solution is needed ... what do you think?

nothing yet - on the one hand we'd like to avoid the additional tag as this makes the whole setlist editing just more complicated but on the other hand we want not to mess up the statistics - so please give us some days more to decide (in case you're wondering what we're doing: currently we're working on the venues - you know, e.g. the "United Kingdom" vs. "England/Wales/Scotland/NI" stuff and also a better way to manage venues)

So what has been decided?

To me, if a snippet doesn't have words (as in, the tune of a different song with nothing sung over it), then it's considered to be an interpolation.
Things like this could get complicated, actually, now that I think about it more.

I don't see how the @Snippet tag would work if the snippet was in the middle of a song. I think if the snippet occurs in the middle of a song then it should be added using @Info or as a medley. Although, if you have an idea of how to write the @Snippet tag so it works for snippets in the middle of songs, then don't let me stop you...
I don't think it's possible to come up with a definition of what constitutes a snippet, because snippets are different things to different bands. The important thing to consider is that anything added with a @Snippet tag is not added to the statistics. So as long as it's used to add "insignificant" parts of the setlist -- as long as nothing "significant" is being added with @Snippet -- then I would say that's the most important thing.
Also, another thing that needs to be decided. Can you use @Info, @With and @Cover tags with @Snippet? I would say yes, but that depends on how you implement it.

Okay, so everybody here would go for a new @Snippet tag? But Steffen is right. First of all, there should be a general agreement on the definition of a snippet. Does it have to be at the beginning/middle/end of a song? May it contain vocals? Instrumental only? What's the difference to a medley?
Other questions: Should the snippet tag contain the artist? May a song contain more than one snippet? How to write it? Please suggest!
Some thoughts from my side: I don't think that a snippet must not contain any vocals. For instance, Jason Mraz mixes some lines of Oasis' Wonderwall into The Remedy. For me, that's a snippet - and it's in the middle of a song.

I think the @snippet-tag would be the best way.

I agree with bigdaycoming.
God knows how many snippets Bono of U2 has done over the years...

I support the creation of the 'Snippet' tag, that way the snippeted songs can still show up on the setlists without appearing on the statistics - I for one don't mind seeing them but for those who don't want them, the Snippet tag seems like the best idea.

i think at first we have to define what a snippet is?
for me a snippet is if they 're playing only a short intro of a song, when vocals are played i think it's a medley. but what is short.
i think a medley would be the best, but the @snippet-Tag is also a good idea to handle this.... -

I think that leglessmoof's idea is a good one. The problem I have with adding the 'intro' cover sections of that song is that we'll end up with a load of covers, listed as having been played by Radiohead, with one or two plays. It'd get very messy.
Either that snippet tag or just add the info at the end of a set.

A common solution is definitely needed.
Any of the 3 styles that you mentioned would be acceptable. But I also thought of another possible solution. You could add a @Snippet tag that would allow the snippet to be on its own line, but without adding it to the statistics. So for example:
@Snippet[The One I Love]
Everthing's in Right Place -

If it is just one or two lines of a song, I think you should use the @Info[With R.E.M.'s 'The One I Love' intro]
If it is more than just a few lines it should be treated as a medley
If I should choose just one solution I would say medley would be the best.
